EV Charger Repairs in Perth
ChargingWA repairs and services EV chargers in Perth, including chargers another installer fitted. Tell us what yours is doing and we'll find out why.
Repairs and Servicing for Home and Business Chargers
What does an EV charger repair involve?
An EV charger repair starts with fault diagnostics, working out why the charger has stopped or slowed down. A licensed electrician tests the earth connection and other electrical safety points, and checks the internal wiring and parts. They also apply firmware updates, the software inside the charger, and check the cable and connector, which wear out most often.
It doesn't matter who installed your charger. We repair and service chargers other installers fitted, as well as the ones we put in ourselves.
Ocular is the charger on most of our jobs, and we're an Ocular Certified Partner. We've worked with Ocular for years and know these chargers inside out.
Fitted by Another Installer
Tell us the brand of charger and what it's doing, in the job description box or over the phone. We'll take it from there, whoever put it in.
Fitted by Us
Every charger we supply and install comes with a 2-year warranty on the charger and the installation. If something goes wrong after the install, you call our Perth team and we sort it out.

Signs Your EV Charger Needs a Repair
Most faults we're called out to fix start small, as wear, dirt build-up or a minor electrical issue. Left alone, they can stop the charger working altogether.
Charging Stops Partway
The session cuts out before the car is full, or the charger won't start a charge at all.
Warning Lights or Fault Codes
Lights or error messages that weren't there before, or the same fault code coming back on the charger or its app.
Slower Than It Used to Be
The car takes longer to charge than it did. Slower charging is often an early sign the charger is due for a service.
Heat Marks or Overheating
Discolouration or heat marks around the vents or connections, or a charger that gets hot while it runs.
Cable or Plug Damage
Fraying, cuts, exposed wiring or bent pins on the connector, the plug that goes into your car.
Cracked or Loose on the Wall
Cracks or dents in the case, or a charger that moves when you touch it.
Never attempt an electrical repair on a charger yourself. Anything past a wipe-down and a look is a job for a licensed electrician.

What We Check on a Faulty Charger
A repair or service visit from us can include any of these, depending on the fault.
- Fault diagnostics, reading what the charger reports and tracing the fault back to its cause.
- Safety tests on the charger and its circuit, including the earth connection.
- Wiring and parts, an inspection inside the charger to find worn parts before they fail.
- Load testing, running the charger under real operating conditions, the way you use it.
- Firmware updates, which fix known issues and keep the charger working with newer cars.
- Cable and connector, checked for wear, cuts, bent pins and a loose fit in the car.
What You Can Check Yourself
- Wipe the charger with a soft, dry cloth. Skip chemicals and pressure washers.
- Keep the vents clear, and look over an outdoor charger after wind or heavy rain.
- Store the cable so it isn't kinked or strained.
- Note any error message and when it shows up, so you can tell us.
There's more on cleaning and care in our EV charger maintenance guide.
Changes to Your Power Setup
A charger is one part of your home's or building's wiring, and that wiring changes over time. A second EV, new appliances, solar panels or a battery can all change how the charger performs.
A setup that worked on day one may not suit the way you use power now. If the charger started playing up after a change like that, tell us what was added and when.

Can you repair an EV charger another company installed?
Yes, whoever installed it. Ring us, tell us what's going wrong, and we'll work out the next step with you.
Why does my EV charger cut out partway through a charge?
Interrupted sessions are one of the signs a charger needs a repair. The cause can be a worn cable or connector, or firmware that needs an update. A change to your power setup, such as a second EV, solar or a battery, can do it too.
Is it safe to keep using a charger with a damaged cable?
Not until it's been checked. A frayed or cut cable, bare wires or bent pins are a safety risk as well as a charging problem. Call a licensed electrician before you plug in again.
Can I fix my EV charger myself?
Only the outside care, like cleaning it and clearing the vents. Testing, the wiring inside and fault-finding are licensed electrical work, and an unlicensed repair can void the maker's warranty.
Can you get spare parts for an Ocular charger?
Yes. We're an Ocular Certified Partner, and Ocular's parts are held locally in WA, so we can source a replacement quickly.
What should I tell you about a faulty charger?
The make and model, who installed it, what it's doing and when it started. A photo of the charger and of any error message on its screen or app helps us narrow down the fault.
